AERA Queer Studies SIG HomeThis is a featured page

The Queer Studies Special Interest Group (SIG) of the American Educational Research Association was formed for the specific purpose of encouraging empirical, interpretive, and critical educational research in education that considers an interdisciplinary discourse including queer theory, queer students and educators, curriculum and sexuality, issues of intersectionality, and other vital issues. In addition, the Queer Studies SIG intends to network individuals and organizations conducting or supporting such research.

The SIG sponsors a number of sessions at the AERA annual meeting, a business meeting to discuss educational issues which have arisen over the previous year, as well as hosting a variety of social events for participants. The SIG supports scholarly work though research awards and endeavors to recognize and support community-based educational initiatives which promote equality for LGBTQ persons in education.

TimLarrabee Queer Youth in Single-sex Schooling:Call for participants:Tosolt/Love 0 Aug 30 2011, 3:03 PM EDT by TimLarrabee

We hope all is well and that everyone is off to a great fall semester. We are currently conducting a study that investigates the ways in which queer youth negotiate the heteronormative space of single-sex schooling. At this point in the study, we are in need of more participants. The three requirements to participate in the study are: ages 18 and older, queer, and attended or attending a same-sex school (middle, high, or college). If you know of anyone who meets these requirements, please send her or him the contact info below. If you would like to participate and the meet the three requirements, please contact us as well.

Thank you for all your help in advance!
